Being the first full book I worked on for Lark, it took me a little time to adjust to the fact that the images I was using were For Placement Only (FPO) and I would never see the final digital files.

My job was to design the book cover to cover including the grid, type choices, and colors. It was challenging to find a grid that would work well, as the proportions of the photograph were just as important as the subject matter. We finally developed a flexible grid that could accommodate a variety of photo proportions as well as be 1,2, or 3 columns with space for captions and sidebars. The layout as a whole is designed so that their is plenty of room for a reader to hold the book and still be able to view all the information presented.
