With the introduction of new features and the departure of others, Frontdoor.com needed to address how and where users access content and features. As a result, the whole homepage needed to be restructured from the ground up.
The team began by looking at site statistics - what users were doing on the homepage - and a dialogue about what was important. As the interaction designer, it was my job to present the team with the basic layout, as well as detailed information about any complex user interactions, such how an accordion might work. After the wireframing was done, I worked with the visual designers and developers to make sure the user interactions remained intact.
Visual design of the page is managed by the in-house designers at Scripps Networks Interactive.
