When musician extrodnair Matt Morleock approached me to design a poster for an exhibition he was curating on the banjo, I jumped at the chance.
Featuring a custom herringbone border, the poster is inspired by the old broadsides printed in the 1800's advertising the traveling minstrel shows. The type used, while it may be modern versions, is inspired by wood type. The image as a whole was degraded and darkened around the edges to imply that the poster was old, much like the contents of the exhibit pieces.
The poster is a 1-color offset print on French Paper's Construction line of fine papers.
